I like to edit. I like to write. A good day is when I get to find that missing trademark, help words to flow, and give power to thoughts.
I lived in Seattle for more than 10 years, where I worked for Starbucks Coffee Company in communications, training and operations. I wrote and edited workbooks and toolkits, memos and press releases, coffee descriptions and newsletters, and training guides and operations manuals.
I moved from Seattle to attend law school in Las Vegas. Three years of nonstop reading, writing, and editing! (And a buffet or two.) I worked as a mentor, helping my peers improve their legal writing by getting rid of passive voice and strengthening their arguments. I interned for the Suffolk County District Attorney in Boston, submitting briefs to the Massachusetts Appeals Court. I interned for the U.S. Department of the Interior, editing briefs submitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. I also studied law and human rights in Beijing and New Delhi.
With my law degree in hand, I returned to the Pacific Northwest, moving to Portland, Oregon, where I passed the Oregon Bar in 2011 and became a Timbers fan. I have since moved to Minnesota, where I grew up and continued writing and editing. When I’m not writing, I’m biking, birding, or just plain walking.
